Dr. Westin is actively involved in the treatment of professional and Olympic athletes. He is the medical director of Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet and a Team Physician with the U.S. Figure Skating Team. He has traveled with the U.S. team as far away as China and Russia and is the personal orthopedic surgeon for Olympic Figure Skating Silver Medalist, Sasha Cohen.
After his Orthopedic training at Harvard and a Sports Medicine Fellowship in Europe, Dr. Westin moved to Utah to run the ski clinic at the Alta and Snowbird Ski Resorts. He says “There is no other orthopedic practice in the world that could have provided more experience with torn ACL’s and injured shoulders than Snowbird.” After 17 years at Snowbird and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Dr. Westin moved to Chicago.
Many no-operative treatments are used to help our patients recover. Physical therapy, injections, braces, orthotics and other rehabilitation techniques can provide dramatic improvement for many conditions.
If surgery is needed, the latest arthroscopic techniques are used to repair joints without large incisions or an overnight stay in the hospital.
“I follow the Medical Golden Rule: Treat patients as I would treat my family or myself. My experience allows me to choose the most effective method to help people enjoy life again.”
