The physicians and staff at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) are passionate about helping athletes all over Chicagoland move better and live better. To demonstrate that commitment, IBJI is partnering with the Chicago Tribune on the “TribLocal High School Athlete of the Month” program, which highlights the achievements of young athletes and benefits local schools.

IBJI’s Dr. Brian Donahue was interviewed recently on WGN-720 AM Radio by host Pete McMurray, along with star student athlete Morgan Harris of Hersey High School, who was named TribLocal High School Athlete of the Month for April. Dr. Donahue, an orthopedic surgeon at IBJI-Arlington Heights, serves as the orthopedic team physician for Morgan’s basketball team. Morgan, who plans to study medicine in college, spoke of her dream to one day travel to Africa to provide medical care to people in underserved communities. Dr. Donahue, who recently returned from his fourth trip to Haiti as a volunteer physician, encouraged Morgan to follow that dream.

IBJI is donating $500 to Hersey’s athletic department in recognition of Morgan’s achievement. IBJI will continue its sponsorship of the Athlete of the Month program throughout the 2013-2014 school year. Listen to the full interview »
