In July of 2009 I was in a motor vehicle accident. My left lower leg and ankle were crushed. Thanks to Dr. Matt Jimenez and Dr. Steven Haddad, today I’m walking with my own two feet!
After the accident and a year of “doctoring” with another orthopedic group, I faced the reality of a non-union. I was also dealing with a second breast cancer and all the emotion around that. At this time, I found Dr. Jimenez, who gave me hope that my leg could be repaired, avoiding a BKA, which was recommended by another surgeon. Year two following the accident I recovered from the leg surgery.
Each year following the original injury and accident, I consulted with Dr. Haddad about my ankle. I wasn’t a candidate until my leg healed, and I understood that. It was a long recovery, but almost four years later, I was emotionally and physically ready for my total ankle replacement.
The skill and professionalism AND compassion of both of these fine doctors is amazing. My long range plan at my age has been to relocate near my son and his wife and grandchildren on the east coast. I’m happy to say I was able to do this last year. I will continue to travel back to Glenview for my yearly checkups with Dr. Haddad. After all this, it’s hard to trust anyone else.
To say I’m thankful for IBJI is an understatement. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the absolute incredible supporting staff. Dr. Jimenez’s PA and Dr. Haddad’s PA and staff are the best. They should also receive credit for the support they provided me through many, many surgeries with all my questions, concerns, and phone calls through these two long recoveries! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
