Dr. Steven L. Haddad is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating conditions affecting the foot and ankle, primarily treating arthritic ankle conditions, as well as ankle, hindfoot and midfoot deformity corrections. He also is an expert in sports conditions affecting the foot and ankle.
Dr. Haddad is a recognized national and international expert on total ankle replacement procedures. He has been heavily involved in designing a number of US prostheses, and trains surgeons throughout the world on their implantation. Candid discussions concerning recovery and expectations following ankle replacement are critical to long-term patient satisfaction, and are a hallmark of his practice.
In the world of sports, Dr. Haddad performs surgery using arthroscopic and other techniques to minimize incisions and the amount of tissue that must be cut, thus reducing pain and speeding recovery times. He lectures at national and international courses concerning treating the high level athlete with foot and ankle pathology.
As well, he has taught hundreds of continuing medical education courses for his fellow surgeons, residents, and medical students. Heavily involved in community lectures for interested patients, he has also served as Chair of the Education Committee for the American Orthoapedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), and as a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Education Committee. He has been named “Best Lecturer” two consecutive years by senior orthopedic residents at their national orthopedic board review course.
Dr. Haddad is the immediate past president of the AOFAS. He has held numerous leadership positions within that two thousand member society, as well as within the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
My practice revolves around diagnosis and management of both simple and complex conditions affecting the foot and ankle. Patient education is pivotal to both appropriate expectations and a successful outcome, and it is my goal to ensure that every patient understands their condition to their satisfaction. I have worked diligently as a pioneer in ankle replacement technology, and thus have a strong interest in that area.
However, I also routinely perform both simple and complex hindfoot and ankle reconstruction for deformity and arthritis. Finally, I work with both athletes and non-athletes in conservative and surgical management of sports injuries and traumatic events to the foot and ankle.
