Dr. Megan Leahy is a podiatrist who takes pride in her treatment plans of exhausting conservative and non-invasive options prior to a surgical approach. As a former Division I collegiate runner, she suffered many foot injuries, but was able to return to competition thanks to her own podiatrist. This inspired Dr. Leahy to become a podiatrist herself, and fostered a genuine sensitivity to the needs of her patients.

When treating athletes, Dr. Leahy strives to keep them active while healing. In her work with diabetic patients, she promotes education and early detection to address problems before they become limb-threatening. Dr. Leahy states, “My goal is to help patients feel better leaving the office than when they arrived.”

Dr. Leahy is the team podiatrist for the Chicago Fire Major League Soccer team. She sits on the Communications Committee of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and is frequently quoted as an expert source in such magazines as Fitness, Self, and Women’s Health.

Philosophy of Care

I pride myself in my treatment plans, particularly exhausting conservative and non-invasive options prior to a surgical approach. As a female medical practitioner and former collegiate runner, I am sensitive to the needs of my patients, having suffered many injuries myself. Virtually all health problems can manifest themselves in the lower extremity, and maintenance of these issues, as well as attention to a healthy lifestyle, are essential to foot and ankle well being.
