Biography

Dr. Mitul Desai is a double board certified physician in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. She is a graduate of the Honors program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, completing a Bachelor of Science – Biology in 3 years. She earned her medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago. Dr. Desai continued her training at Rush University Medical Center where she completed her Internal Medicine residency and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. She then pursued further training in weight management and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Desai has over 20 years of experience in hospital medicine, primary care, and preventive health. She has led an extremely diverse career path, and, in addition to clinical care, has served in directorship roles in utilization management and corporate medicine. Dr. Desai is passionate about preventive medicine and evidence-based weight management. She believes in educating her patients and guiding them to lead healthy, productive lifestyles. She feels that a strong collaborative relationship between patients and their health care providers is essential to maintaining good health. During her leisure time, Dr. Desai enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.

Lifestyle changes such as improving nutrition, encouraging physical activity, improving sleep, stress reduction, and overall improvement in weight management and metabolic health may lead to successful prevention and halting of disease progression.
