Dr. Gregory Palutsis is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in treating shoulder and knee conditions. He performs shoulder and knee reconstruction, shoulder and knee replacement, rotator cuff repairs and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction.

When medically appropriate, Dr. Palutsis provides advanced treatments including arthroscopy (minimally invasive surgery), MRI guided knee replacements, and reverse total shoulder replacements.

Dr. Palutsis was inspired to become a physician by seeing how his father, a family doctor, made a difference in people’s lives. He devotes ample time to educating patients about their conditions and treatment options so they can be comfortable with the choices they make. His goal is to restore patients to as close to their normal function as possible.

He is a former assistant team physician and head team physician for Northwestern University, serving for over 20 years. Dr. Palutsis also was the head physician for the 1992 and 1996 U.S. Paralympics Teams.

He teaches orthopaedic surgery residents as a clinical instructor in the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and fellow surgeons on behalf of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Palutsis is a private pilot, and in addition to flying, he enjoys scuba diving and biking.
