Biography
Peter Boucas, DO, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon who treats both adult and adolescent patients with a focus on minimally invasive spine surgery, complex degenerative spinal disorders, and the management of traumatic spine injuries.
Dr. Boucas was born in Greece and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago. He is proud to return home to care for the community in which he grew up. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Northeastern Illinois University before attending Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he graduated as valedictorian. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Northwell Health/Hofstra’s Huntington Hospital in New York and pursued advanced fellowship training in spine surgery at the University of Missouri. During his medical school and residency, Dr. Boucas was recognized with numerous awards and contributed to multiple research projects that advanced the field of spine surgery.
He takes a conservative, patient-centered approach to care, treating the majority of patients with non-surgical methods such as physical therapy and medications. When surgery is required, Dr. Boucas emphasizes individualized surgical planning and employs advanced techniques, including minimally invasive and motion-preserving procedures. His philosophy is to treat every patient as if they were his own family member, using the safest, least invasive, and most effective treatments to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Boucas enjoys weightlifting, hiking, and traveling to Greece with his wife and twin daughters. He is also an avid Chicago sports fan.
I treat every patient as a member of my own family, offering compassionate guidance, conservative care, and individualized solutions tailored to their unique needs.”
