Biography

Jennifer Gits Carney, MOT, OTR/L, CHT has been practicing Occupational Therapy for over 23 years, all of which has been dedicated to hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. In November, 2019, Jennifer sat for her certification in hand therapy and passed on her first attempt. She joined IBJI in August.

Jennifer is passionate about treating patients with upper extremity and hand injuries, as she assists them in regaining their functional independence through various methods of rehabilitation such as exercise, orthotic fabrication, joint protection/energy conservation, and/ or adaptation of technique or instrument. She embodies a multi-faceted, evidence based treatment approach that is patient-centered, focusing on achieving personal and functional goals. While she enjoys working with all ages and backgrounds, she has a special interest in working with musicians, athletes, and industrial athletes.

Jennifer has been apart of the community, growing up in a large family from the western suburbs and attending Nazareth Academy. Outside of the clinic, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, her daughter, reading, creating art, gardening, and traveling.
