Cathy graduated from Chicago State University in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy. With that degree, she focused on outpatient orthopedics as well as pediatrics while pursuing her Master’s in Health Science with a specialty track in Orthopedics from the University of Indianapolis as well as her Certification in Hand Therapy, both completed in 2005.
Cathy has lightly worked in many settings in order to keep a well-rounded view of occupational therapy, including acute hospital inpatient rehabilitation, home health, pediatric early intervention, skilled nursing facilities, and school-based therapy. While her passion is hand rehabilitation, she decided to add a certification in the treatment of lymphedema in 2013 because she saw a strong need for addressing post-operative care for the side effects in the treatment of cancer.
While Cathy would love to return to playing ice hockey, a torn tendon has sidelined her, and she now finds joy in more age-appropriate activities such as yoga, spinning classes, reading, and spending time with her husband, son, tortoise, and two dogs.
