Biography

Glysell Rivera-Alicea, DPT, has been practicing as a physical therapist for six years and has been working at the Wilmette Illinois Bone & Joint Institute since 2010.  Glysell is originally from Puerto Rico and she is fluent in Spanish.  She enlisted in the Air Force in 1995.  After she was honorably discharged from the armed forces in 2001, she proceeded to complete her degree in physical therapy.

Glysell enjoys treating a variety of diagnosis.  She has a passion for sports medicine, working with athletes of all ages, treating joint replacements, injuries involving the knee and shoulder, and helping patients recover from ACL reconstruction.  She is currently working on her Manual Therapy certification, and she is a member of the Sports Medicine Special Interest Group with IBJI.  Glysell is an active participant in the OrthoSync program, which creates customized post-operative plan of care for those patients undergoing joint replacements.  Glysell is also part of the Industrial Rehabilitation Team.  As a Workers’ Compensation leader at the Wilmette clinic, her primary goal is to positively impact the time it takes an injured worker to return to work.

In her spare time, Glysell enjoys working out regularly, spending time with her family, watching movies, reading, and trying out new recipes.
