Biography
Emma P. Dwyer, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the surgical and non-surgical management of hand and upper extremity conditions. Her clinical focus includes the treatment of degenerative and traumatic disorders of the hand and wrist, such as arthritis, fractures, ligament, tendon and nerve injuries, carpal and cubital tunnel syndromes, and Dupuytren’s contracture. She is skilled in advanced techniques including microsurgery, joint replacement, and minimally invasive techniques including arthroscopy.
A proud St. Louis native, Dr. Dwyer earned her undergraduate degree and medical degree from Saint Louis University. She went on to complete her orthopedic surgery residency at the prestigious University of Chicago. She then completed a hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at the University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center, a nationally renowned center for comprehensive care of complex upper extremity conditions in both adults and children.
Dr. Dwyer is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. She emphasizes shared decision-making and takes the time to truly understand each patient’s concerns, goals, and lifestyle in order to tailor a personalized treatment plan. Whether providing surgical or non-surgical treatment, her approach is grounded in evidence-based medicine and the highest standards of technical excellence.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Dwyer enjoys an active lifestyle. She is an avid runner and is looking forward to crossing the Chicago Marathon off her bucket list. She also enjoys kayaking, cycling, and exploring Chicago’s vibrant art scene.
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to truly understanding each patient’s unique goals, which allows us to build a personalized treatment plan that supports long-term success. With a welcoming, compassionate approach, I focus on creating lasting relationships rooted in trust, excellent care, and collaboration."
