Biography

Dr. Hayek grew up in northwest Chicagoland and traveled the country to obtain advanced training in orthopedic surgery, arthroscopy, and sports medicine. He values family and the character of the communities he grew up in which brought him back to Illinois to serve the residents of the northwest side and beyond.

Dr. Hayek graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from Georgetown University’s Medical School. He completed his residency at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities where he obtained specialized training in orthopedic trauma and sports medicine. He completed a fellowship in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine at the University of Chicago/Northshore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute. During his fellowship, he provided medical coverage for the University of Chicago Maroons collegiate athletics and the Concordia University Chicago Football Team.

Dr. Hayek specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the hip, shoulder, and knee, including ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, hip labral repair, complex rotator cuff repair, shoulder labral repair, complex knee injuries, cartilage restoration, and patellar instability. He also specializes in reconstruction of the hip, knee, and shoulder joints, and performs anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement based on patient needs, as well as anterior total hip replacement.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Hayek enjoys spending time with his growing family, on the lake, and providing medical coverage for athletic events.

I emphasize patient education and enjoy partnering with patients to help them understand diagnoses and treatment options so we can determine a care plan through shared decision-making. I rely on high-quality evidence-based research to develop a customized approach to fit the needs and goals of each patient.”
