Dr. Angelo Savino is a Family Medicine physician specializing in Sports Medicine and he serves as the leading physician at IBJI’s OrthoAccess immediate care clinic in Libertyville. His specialties include non-operative orthopedic care, sports injuries, ultrasound diagnostic imaging, ultrasound guided injections, PRP injections.
He has extensive experience acting as team physician for professional, collegiate and high school teams, and has conducted research and presented on such sports medicine topics as “Left Shoulder Injury in a Wide Receiver,” “Knee Exams and 6 Common Pathologies,” and “The Pre-Participation Exam.”
He obtained his undergraduate degree at University of Denver and then pursued post -baccalaureate studies at Loyola University Chicago. He then went on to obtain his medical education at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in St. Martin and completed his Residency in Family Medicine in Michigan at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. His fellowship training was in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the University of Connecticut in Farmington.
He returned to the Chicago area, where he grew up, to focus on treating patients with athletic interests – whether they be professional athletes or weekend warriors. Dr. Savino’s caring approach is about garnering relationships and caring for the patient. The Patient-Physician relationship is most important.
As he notes, “once this is established, the care will fall into place.” Ultimately, his goal is to improve every patient’s health to prolong their active lifestyle. He believes the longer you remain active, the longer you will lead a happier life.
