Biography
Carmela's clinical interests are rooted in acute postoperative hip and knee joint replacement. As a seasoned therapist, she has an extensive vocabulary of treatment for women's health, geriatric care, general orthopedic conditions, and fall management. She is also a McKenzie-trained practitioner for lumbar pain management and spine care.
Her treatment philosophy emphasizes the latest evidence-based medicine with a holistic therapy approach, teaching patients ways to address the root cause of pain with the fewest medications and devices possible. She extensively uses Maitland manual therapy, a series of graded mobilizations to improve joint movement, reduce pain, and restore function.
As a dancer, her special interest is based on functional movement for optimal sports performance and core balance management for beginner and high-level athletes and dancers. Carmela graduated from St. Paul University and has been practicing since 2010. When not at work, you can find her doing short runs by the lake, or going on a foodie crawl.
