LINCOLNSHIRE — While participating in an open gym basketball scrimmage, Stevenson High School’s Jordan Newman stepped on an opponent’s foot, fracturing a bone in his left foot.
Doctors said he’d be out of action for eight weeks while the bone healed and Newman was told he’d have to miss the beginning of Stevenson’s basketball season, scheduled for Nov. 10.
After resting the foot for a few weeks, Newman rehabbed at the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute. Newman performed grueling sets of squats and lunges to build up leg strength.
