COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Updated: Friday July 30 2021
As this situation is fluid and evolving we will update content as needed.

At this time, IBJI physician, physical and occupational therapy, and MRI facilities are operating on a reduced schedule to allow for adherence to CDC/IDPH guidelines. Below we have listed some office closures but for specific office information, please visit the location page for which you are inquiring.

For everyone’s safety and health if you are sick, have a cough, fever, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headaches, sore throat, have developed a new loss of taste or smell, or have recently travelled, we recommend you contact your primary care physician and we will work with you to reschedule your appointment with IBJI.

Voluntary fever screening: In an effort to protect our patients and staff, we are requesting that all scheduled patients perform a voluntary fever screening before coming to the office. If you have a fever (temp greater than 100) you should contact your PCP by phone and not come to the office until fever and/or other symptoms have resolved with 14 days of voluntary isolation, have are cleared by their PCP, or have been tested negative for COVID 19.

Face Masks and Coverings: As of 4/24/2020, Gov. Pritzker has provided the following guidelines on masking: All Illinoisans should wear a mask or face covering when they must leave their home or report to work for essential operations and they either cannot or it is impractical to maintain 6 feet of physical distance between themselves and others. IDPH guidelines can be found here.

View our COVID-19 Resources page for additional face mask guidelines and resources.

Practice Update

In midst of COVID-19 and in an effort to protect our patients, Illinois Bone & Joint Institute is taking the following action:

  • Limiting in-office scheduling to accommodate social distancing guidelines
  • Pausing scheduling of elective surgical procedures
  • Modifying OrthoAccess to accommodate patient’s orthopedic care, for all patients and those redirected from hospital emergency rooms
  • Establishing telehealth visit options for physician and physical therapy office visits
  • Enhanced preventative health measures, including masking and cleaning, to decrease risks of spreading COVID-19

Telehealth Visits for Physician & Outpatient Rehab Visits

This new care option will allow for patients to interact with IBJI providers via a secure video platform. Our goal is to limit individual contact where we can, but at the same time, provide the same high-quality services that you expect from IBJI. If at the time of a telehealth evaluation the clinical team determines that there is an urgent issue, patients may arrange an in-office visit for necessary testing or treatment per the guidance of the treating provider.

Please contact your providers office to determine if a telehealth visit is appropriate for your treatment plan.

For Established Patients With Non-Immediate or Urgent Care Needs

Due to the fluid nature of this situation, information pertaining to already scheduled visits or established care plans should be directed to your provider's office. For a full list of IBJI practice locations, please visit our location page here.

If you are currently scheduled for a visit with IBJI after March 20th, 2020, our team will contact you directly to determine the best course of action and follow up in accordance with your Physician’s guidance and clinical needs. For your convenience, we have added a web form that you may use to connect with our IBJI care team

For New Patients

Elective Surgeries

In accordance with Governor Pritzker’s recent lifting of the elective surgery order, IBJI will resume elective surgeries beginning May 11, 2020.

As established by IDPH, surgeries scheduled must adhere to a strict set of guidelines to continue ensuring safety for both patients and medical staff. If your surgery was placed on hold during this time, your IBJI provider will contact you regarding rescheduling options. Due to the high volume of rescheduled procedures, we appreciate your understanding as we work with hospitals and surgery centers to adapt to comply with the recommended guidance.
