Ashlee, 37, has to be able to run – fast – on dirt, grass, and artificial turf, even if it’s wet and slippery. She has to start in quick bursts, pivot and stop on a dime. She runs dashes often and trains frequently. But Ashlee isn’t your typical athlete. […]

David F’s Story

2018-09-26T09:53:52+00:00September 26th, 2018|

Dr. Williams is a PHENOMENAL hand surgeon. I had to have two operations 11 months apart. His work was brilliant, perfect, and I have NO scarring at all. Only two small, ruler-straight, very faint white lines that only show up under strong direct lighting. And my hand works perfectly. Add to this the fact that he has an extraordinary team and is just a great and humble guy, you couldn't ask for better. And no, I am not related to him or a personal friend. I was recommended to him by my first hand doctor, a pediatric surgeon who went to Dr. Williams to fix his hand. That was endorsement enough for me.

Hannah’s Story

2018-08-13T08:47:23+00:00August 13th, 2018|

Dr. Vora is a spectacular doctor who wants to do what is right by the patient, not the practice. I had two previous ankle surgeries at RUSH, however, the damage of my ankle was so much worse that RUSH’s two operations would’ve never worked because I needed an entire ‪ankle allograft. Before my surgery with Vora I couldn’t even walk a mile without my ankle swelling like a balloon, which was not ideal being an elite 20-year-old athlete; but now, a year later, I am able to do any activity without any pain what-so-ever. It’s such a night and day difference. Lastly, Vora cares so much about the patient at hand and uses surgery as a last resort, plus he's [...]

Jean B’s Story

2018-10-17T09:08:49+00:00October 17th, 2018|

Dr. Peter Thadani gave me back my active life! My hip discomfort began twenty years ago, and by 2017, the pain had become so severe that I had given up many many activities that I used to enjoy, especially traveling with my family and taking daily long walks with my husband. Climbing the stairs to our bedroom had become a slow and dreaded process, inactivity had caused weight gain, and my condition was affecting our family’s travel choices. I knew it was time to consider hip replacement. I made an appointment to see Dr. Thadani, an expert in “anterior approach” hip replacement surgery - a method that I heard results in a shorter hospital stay and swifter recovery. Dr. Thadani [...]

Jim’s Story

2018-07-27T14:03:43+00:00July 27th, 2018|

Recently I hurt my back for the first time.  Waking up the next morning, I was in great pain, and almost unable to move.  This was also 3 days before my wife and I were taking a 3 week bicycle trip celebrating her recent retirement.  I was eventually able to get myself to the IBIJ Ortho Access facility in Glenview.  Fantastically, they got me in within minutes, gathering my information and getting an initial set of x-rays as quickly and easily as I could imagine.  Once back in the examination room and after only a short wait, I met with Dr. Gary Shapiro, a spine specialist.  After reviewing the x-rays, Dr. Shapiro very patiently listened to the story, asked great [...]

Lynn’s Story

2018-10-16T18:31:24+00:00October 16th, 2018|

By the last month before a total hip replacement, in order to get up from a sitting position without a cane, I had to put my weight on my hands flat on the floor until able to pull up to standing position. Pain was a 98 out of 100. Three months, to the day, post surgery, Dr. Hill cleared me for my old exercise; I was at Zumba that night! Took about a month after that to get stamina back. Pain is now a zero out of 100. Zero. Bear in mind, the first weeks post surgery are surprisingly painful, but the HUGE difference is every day brings improvement. Do exactly what your doctor and PT tell you to, and [...]

Margaret’s Story

2018-07-27T14:00:07+00:00July 27th, 2018|

Last March 2017 had knee replaced. For over a year I have suffered with chronic pain/ swelling of my leg & burning. I had 3 other surgeries & even a nerve block. The original surgeon never ordered a CT scan as recommended by the consulting physician he recommended. Finally March 2018 had the CT done & it was noted the cement of the device was not holding. I could actually feel the device mobile in my leg. Because I was crying daily in pain, one doctor deferred me to go to the Mayo clinic for treatment. He also missed diagnosed me as having chronic pain syndrome, even though I had told him I was assessed for that & I did [...]

Since 2016, three sets of initials have made a great positive impact on my physical health and my mental outlook: IBJI, OHP, and HPI. While I had been moderately active in sports through college, by the time I completed some professional degrees, got married, and was working, most of my leisure time was spent eating, reading, and passively watching sports on TV. Over the years my physical condition become so poor that I could not walk easily or get out of a chair without requiring assistance and feeling pain. Although I could still work at my desk, I was burden to myself and loved ones and was depressed. In 2017, I was referred to IBJI- The Illinois Bone and Joint [...]

I had several things going on besides a pinched nerve. I had three injections and therapy. I am 70 years old and very active. I occasionally do the exercises I learned in therapy, I am careful about certain movements concerning my back, but I have been totally free from that excruciating sciatica pain. Thank you Dr. Brian Clay.
